Mods make what would probably be fondly remembered but still forgettable game into long lasting and enjoyable games well beyond what they should have been. I bet very few people are still playing the actual Xbox 1 release of Morrowind or playing the 360/PS3 release of Oblivion while both those games on PC still have mods being made for them to this day. everywhere.īut for PC, certainly is completely true. So clearly once you move beyond the PC ecosystem its more then just "mods mods mods" for Bugthesda games, clearly they sell well even without the community fixing or improving or adding - to them. Yet games like Oblivion, Fallout 3, NV, Skyrim and Fallout 4 before console mod support was added were very popular games on consoles, sold quite well, had plenty of fans and all with no real mods (modded save games to give items being the only real exception but not quite the same level as tactical anime muscle cat girls with - mods). Up until very damn recently mods were PC only, still are ridiculously limited on PS4.

When is the last time a PC player said "I prefer Vanilla Skyrim/Fallout" and they weren't being sarcastic?īut emphasis on the "PC" part.

Yes in some ways they do rely on the modding community to keep their games fresh and longer lasting then they should, modding is probably why some even enjoy their games.
